ICTA 2022

1st INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON TRADE LAW (ICTA 2022)

  1. About The Conference

The Covid-19 pandemic over the past two years has had an impact directly on various walks of life around the world. The disaster certainly raises some problems, such as in the economy. The economic downturn, none other than one of them caused by a slowdown in international trade flows. This is because some countries delay the export of essential products such as foodstuffs to secure the supply of domestic needs or delay the import of products that are thought to transmit the SARS–CoV–2 viruses.

The delay significantly resulted in trade in goods decreased in 2020 by 5.3% compared to 2019. However, international trade in 2021 will increase due to various policies of various countries that provide doping to the economy, such as incentives and subsidies. In trade law internationally, the policy can be carried out by countries, however with stringent regulations as contained in various agreements in the World Trade Organization (WTO).

International trade law has disciplined the firm provision of subsidies as stipulated in the Agreement on Subsidies and Countervailing Measures. However, it also provides a bit of leeway as provided for in the General Exception (Article 20 GATT). Member countries The WTO must not forget its obligations, such as giving notifications on subsidies, removing quota restrictions, and not discriminating.

On the other hand, in 2022, Indonesia officially holds the Presidency Group of Twenty (G20) for an entire year, starting from 1 December 2021 until the G20 Summit in November 2022. Indonesia's G20 presidency will focus on three main topics. Health architecture global, digital-based transformation, and energy transition. With the theme "Recover Together, Recover Stronger," Indonesia invites the whole world to come together achieve a stronger, inclusive and sustainable economic recovery.

The three main G20 issues are closely related to trade law. Through The Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS), international trade law has guaranteed intellectual property rights protection for the thriving pharmaceutical industry creating a drug for 20 years. Trade law also regulates the transformation of trade through digital, and trade law also hopes that the trade carried out can protect the environment and sustainable development.

Therefore, the Faculty of Law, Bangka Belitung University, intends to hold the first international seminar with an international theme conference on trade law (ICTA) to support the Indonesian government in G-20 Presidency.
